Dubai: Mumbai net users were up till early hours of the morning managing and updating the Mumbai Help blog (http://mumbaihelp.blogspot.com).
A group of regular bloggers set up the initiative last year during the rains and it has come to the aid of many anxious relatives and friends of Mumbai residents, who were unable to get in touch with their people in the city.
Visitors to the blog could leave a message with the name and contact number of the person or people they were trying to reach and volunteers in Mumbai would follow up and confirm contact - or not - once established.
In a little over 12 hours, the site had been linked across many blogs and already received more than 300 messages.
A perusal of the blog reveals the horror of the bomb blasts with messages such as the finding of an identity card of a PriceWaterHouse Cooper employee among the debris and a young man whose father?s phone had been found by another man.
The father had apparently been taken to a hospital but was not in a position to contact his family.
