India police say 2 killed in Calcutta slum explosion
Police say at least two people have been killed and 10 wounded in an explosion in a slum in the eastern Indian city of Calcutta.
Calcutta, India: Police say at least two people have been killed and 10 wounded in an explosion in a slum in the eastern Indian city of Calcutta.
Calcutta Commissioner of Police of Gautam Mohan Chakraborty says the Sunday blast was caused by an explosive device but does not appear to be connected to the string of deadly blasts that rocked India last week.
Chakraborty says the explosion went off in a scrap yard in a north Calcutta slum.
He says scrap collectors had apparently found the bomb, possibly left over from a fight between rival gangs in the area.
