Dubai: International flights to and from India were not effected on Wednesday despite a trade union strike in India, said some of the major airlines operating from UAE to various Indian cities.
"We have not been affected so far," said Anand Kumar Pandy, the country manager of Indian airline. The airline operates mainly to Calicut, Cochin, Goa, and Ahmedabad. "Things are running smoothly and we hope it continues to do so," he added.
Eight major Trade Unions including the All India Trade Union Congress and Centre for Indian Trade Unions have called a countrywide strike against rising inflation and government policies.
"The strike has been talked about, but so far there has been no impact on our flight schedules in and out of India," said Thomas Clarke, public relations official of Etihad Airways. Some of the major Indian cities that it flies to are Thiruvanathapuram, Kochi, Kozikode, Mumbai, Chennai and Delhi. Air Arabia, which operates to over a dozen cities in India, also did not register any delay or cancellation of flights.
