Fernandes says Delhi surrendering to Beijing
Former defence minister George Fernandes has charged the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government with surrendering to China on the Tibetan issue.
New Delhi: Former defence minister George Fernandes has charged the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government with surrendering to China on the Tibetan issue.
Fernandes, who had created a storm by calling China India's enemy number one while he served as a minister in the previous National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government, termed the incumbent UPA government as habitually weak and called upon the international community to prevail upon China to refrain from constantly using abusive words against the Dalai Lama.
"The Chinese have been calling the Dalai Lama several names, such as Devil, a wolf in monk's robes, cat's paw and beast. This is China's animal speak on His Holiness [Dalai Lama]," Fernandes, who is convenor of NDA, said.
Objections
Fernandes called upon the government to voice the objections of the people of India against use of such language against a revered guest and friend of India, terming the Dalai Lama as a man of peace and spirituality.
Fernandes also asked India and the rest of the world to boycott goods produced by China. "Such a move would bring the Chinese government to its knees and would show them the power of the world."
He said the world must contain China within its walls. "Otherwise, they will take over the rest of the world," he warned.
He also wants the international community to boycott the Beijing Olympics to be held later this year.
