Compassion has no boundaries
The challenge now is to ensure that Sravani fulfils her dream of becoming a teacher
Ever since Gulf News reported the story of a poor woman from Andhra Pradesh, Sravani, caught begging in Kerala, dozens of readers have written in to find out how they can help her. Sravani is trying to fulfil a childhood dream of becoming a teacher for which she needs money to enrol herself in a training course.
The outpouring of compassion and a genuine desire to help a needy woman is a sign that a cry for help still tugs at our hearts. Despite articles describing bombings and killings, and pictures showing in graphic detail the destruction caused by wars, it is encouraging to know that the human heart has not lost its desire to give — and give to those who need it the most.
The calls and the letters have come from people of different countries, going to show that love has no geographical boundaries. The challenge now is to see that Sravani fulfils her dream. And to this end, the financial help that our readers have pledged must reach the right people who will utilise it faithfully. Thank you readers.
