New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party is particular that even ailing lawmakers take part in Tuesday's trust vote and help bring down the government.
The party has sought the permission of the Lok Sabha Speaker to allow former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee to cast his vote from the lobby of the House since his physical condition does not allow him to walk up to his designated seat.
Vajpayee has been mostly confined to his home for the last couple of years because of age-related problems with only a select few visitors allowed to see him.
He would be required to go to parliament only if his vote becomes crucial.
Incidentally, a government headed by Vajpayee was defeated by just one vote in 1998 during a no-trust motion.
The BJP has also decided to go against medical advice will be sending an air ambulance to fly in Harischandra Chavan, who is currently admitted at a hospital in Nasik after meeting with an accident. The party has moved for permission to let the Maharashtra MP vote from his stretcher in the Lower House lobby.
