Mumbai: Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan will soon leave a Mumbai hospital, where he was admitted on his 66th birthday after complaining of stomach pain, a hospital official said on Sunday.
The legendary actor was rushed to Lilavati hospital on Saturday and was placed under observation. He had undergone surgery in 2005 for an intestinal condition.
"He's had a restful night and the tests do not show any abnormality," said Dr. Narendra Trivedi, the vice president of the hospital.
"He has responded well to our line of treatment and will be discharged in a few days," he said.
Earlier, hospital spokesman Mohan Rajan said, "Mr Bachchan has stomach pain, he's undergoing medical tests. There is no cause for concern."
Television channels showed the actor, in a woollen cap and shawl, lying on a stretcher with son Abhishek, daughter-in-law Aishwarya and daughter Shweta by his side.
Dozens of fans held a nightlong vigil outside the hospital for the actor's health.
