Two dead as thousands protest deadly Afghan raid
Thousands of protesters clashed with police in eastern Afghanistan on Saturday, leaving at least two people dead and seven others wounded.
Shinwar: Thousands of protesters clashed with police in eastern Afghanistan on Saturday, leaving at least two people dead and seven others wounded.
The protesters had blocked a highway through Nangarhar province linking the capital Kabul with Pakistan.
They said they were protesting against the killing of three civilians by foreign forces during an overnight raid.
"We will start jihad (holy war) if they (foreign troops) continue to carry on like this," said a protestor named Khairullah.
Nato-led and troops under US command are stationed in the province. A Nato official said he was not aware of the raid and that the US military would check the report.
