Kandahar: Officials say a car bomb ripped through a compound of government offices in the southern city of Kandahar, killing two people.
The blast in the former Taliban stronghold appears to have targeted the city's intelligence agency and the provincial council offices.
A police officer at the scene says a car bomb appears to be the source of the blast.
Dr. Amayun Shafi at a Kandahar hospital says two people died and 28 were wounded.
It wasn't clear if the car was driven by a suicide attacker, though many militant attacks in Afghanistan are by suicide bombers.
Ambulances raced to the scene. Afghan police, soldiers and intelligence agents were at the site, as were Canadian soldiers.
