Afghanistan: Bombing kills 6 family members close to US base
Authorities say six Afghan family members, including two women and two children, have been killed in an explosion close to a US military base just outside the capital.
Kabul: Authorities say six Afghan family members, including two women and two children, have been killed in an explosion close to a US military base just outside the capital.
It was the second bombing close to the Bagram base in less than a week. Three US soldiers died in a suicide attack Saturday.
The Ministry of Interior said in a statement Tuesday's incident was a suicide attack by suspected insurgents.
Bagram district civilian chief Kabir Ahmad disputed that, saying it could have been a roadside bomb or the device could even have been planted in the car. He said the motive for the attack could been personal.
Also Tuesday, the US military said in a statement that Afghan and coalition forces attacked a residential compound in Wardak province, killing six militants.
