Dubai: Authorities in Sharjah have announced that it will close Shaikh Rashid Bin Saqr Al Qasimi road for 20 days.

In a statement, the Sharjah Roads and Transport Authority (SRTA) said that maintenance work at a cost of Dh1.4 million will be carried out between the areas of Al Abar and Dasman.
Motorists are advised to take alternative routes during the road closure.
The road works will be carried out in two phases:
1. The first phase will start on the area of Dasman and will affect motorists driving from Cultural Roundabout towards Shaikh Rashid Bin Saqr Al Qasimi intersection.
Authorities pointed out that the road works will be carried out daily for six hours, from 11pm until 6am.
2. Maintenance works will then be carried out in the opposite direction in the Al Abar area from April 7 to 16, and will affect motorists travelling from Shaikh Rashid Bin Saqr Al Qasimi intersection to the Cultural Roundabout.
Construction will run from April 7 to 16, and will also be closed for seven hours a day from 11pm to 6am.
The SRTA explained that the maintenance works include replacing the top layer of the existing asphalt with a new one, expanding the U-turn opposite the Sharjah Archaeological Museum, and adding further sign roads in the areas.
