Code ‘T’ to make debut at RTA online auction

250 vehicle numbers on offer; registration for auction starts on Sunday

Dubai: The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) is offering 250 multi-digit vehicle licence plate numbers and Code “T” for the first time during its 49th online auction, it was announced.

Plates on offer at the auction, which is scheduled on July 23, comprise three, four and five digits under Code A, B, H, I, J, K, L, M, N, O, P, Q, R, S, and T.

Registration of bidders starts at 8am on Sunday and will continue for five days.

Ahmad Behroozian, chief executive officer of RTA’s Licensing Agency, highlighted the importance of online auctions to a large segment of community members who prefer such particular auctions as they find the liberty of selecting their fancied numbers in a hassle-free environment.

“These auctions also contribute to enhancing the online services of Vehicles Licensing Department under an annual plan aimed at improving the quality and standard of processing transactions of the public,” he said.

He added that the intense public participation in open and online auctions and the positive competition for owning plates was indicative of the importance of these auctions in maximising the happiness and satisfaction of number plate enthusiasts.

To participate in the auction, residents much register by logging on to RTA website (, or visiting any RTA Customers Happiness Centre in Dubai. Every potential bidder is required to pay Dh5,000 as a security deposit, which is refunded after the auction. A Dh120 registration fee before the start of bidding is also required, via a credit card or a cheque addressed to the RTA.
