Dubai: The Dubai Health Authority (DHA) on Wednesday launched a smart self-help kiosk, Malafati, to save time and cut queues at health-care centres and hospitals.

The first kiosk will be set up at Latifa Hospital, officials said. More kiosks will follow at shopping malls and other public places.

Health officials said the new kiosks are multi-functional and can read health card reference numbers, reschedule doctor appointments, renew health cards, issue duplicate cards and print out a copy of medical reports.

Amani Al Jasmi, director of information technology at the DHA, told Gulf News that the new kiosks will be a welcome addition to a smart city that is using technology to boost the quality of life in Dubai.

“At public hospitals we noticed that people often stand in long queues for crucial jobs that actually can be resolved in a minute. This self-help kiosk empowers the individual to make quick decisions and get instant results at the press of a button,” Amani said.

The kiosk accepts credit cards, she said.
