Dubai: The Ministry of Environment and Water has withdrawn Hero baby follow-up formula due to a bacteria contamination.
Obaid Juma Al Matroushi, Acting Director General of the Ministry, said the ministry issued a decision to recall a batch of 150-gramme Hero follow-up formula packages manufactured on May 12, 2009 and expiring on May 11, 2010.
These were found to be contaminated with the enterobacter sakazakii bacteria, according to a report by Abu Dhabi Food Control Authority.
The product is a breast milk alternative made of pulses for babies over six months old.
The product will either be destroyed or returned to its source country, Turkey, under the supervision of control authorities, Al Matroushi said.
