Dubai: The Ministry of Health and Prevention recently opened a mobile clinic at Al Muhaisnah Health Centre to help people stop smoking in line with the National Tobacco Control Programme implemented under the theme "I quit and now it is your turn." The mobile clinic is scheduled to move to to Mirdif City Centre and will cater to residents there until June 22, 2017.

Dr Hussein Abdul Rahman Al Rand, the Ministry’s Assistant Undersecretary for Health Centres and Clinics Sector, led the opening of the mobile clinic in a ceremony held at Al the Muhaisnah Health Centre and attended by Nasser Khalifa Al Budour, Director of Dubai Medical District, and Dr Wedad Al Maidoor, Director of Dubai Health Authority’s Primary Health Care.

According to Dr Al Rand, the Ministry’s latest move forms part of the Al Khair Clinics’ efforts and has been done in response to the World No Tobacco Day celebration. The opening also reflects the ministry’s efforts to provide state-of-the-art and world-class health facilities, in addition to encouraging the public to adopt a healthy lifestyle to prevent diseases, especially those associated with smoking. The mobile clinic will reach wider segments of society to raise awareness on the dangers of smoking, a major cause of lung cancer that kills millions of people worldwide.
