Abu Dhabi: A total of 180 warnings were recently issued to vehicle owners who had left their vehicles unattended in the capital’s Musaffah and Mafraq Industrial areas, the Municipality of Abu Dhabi city announced in a statement issued on Monday.
The warnings called upon motorists to clean their vehicles within three days, or risk a Dh3,000 fine, in accordance with municipal Law No 2 of 2012 regarding the general appearance of the city and health of residents.
The municipality also called upon residents who leave town for an extended period to cover their vehicles in order to avoid warnings and fines.
The authority added that leaving a vehicle unattended is aesthetically unappealing, and the gathering of dust on it can pose a threat to public health. Vehicles are towed to the impound yard in Al Wathba if they are not cleaned within the three-day notice period, and the fine is doubled for repeat offenders. Charges for the impound yard also apply.
