Ten out of 100 candidates have been qualified for the World’s Best Minister Award, Mohammad Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs, and Chairman of the organising committee of the World Government Summit, announced yesterday.
Al Gergawi stressed that launch of the first-of-its-kind award aims to enable government leaders, strengthen opportunities to exchange expertise as well as inspire executive officials in the world’s government. It also aims to highlight the innovative ministerial work and achievements of the world’s governments that brought about positive changes in societies, he added.
“Today, the world needs leading models of innovators and ministerial top achievers; the award is not just to mark an experience or to honour a minister or a government, but rather it’s an opportunity to consider and highlight distinguished experiences and their positive effects and to strengthen exchanging knowledge through the summit, which will be global platform and a source of inspiration to the world’s government as well as a catalyst for governments to implement applicable innovative projects,” Al Gergawi said.
The award will honour the best minister in the world and shed light on ministers who led successful government initiatives and achieved outstanding results.
The summit will include the convening of the 11th Annual Meeting of the OECD’s Middle East and North Africa Working Group on Open and Innovative Government. The group will have directors of electronic and smart governments in the Middle East and North Africa discussing the preliminary results of a number of studies on digital government strategies in the countries of the region and the findings of the OECD’s open government survey.
