Sharjah: His Highness Dr Shaikh Sultan Bin Mohammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, has stressed the importance of the cultural initiatives organised by Sharjah throughout its cultural career. Dr Shaikh Sultan said that these initiatives helped Sharjah obtain many achievements in the UAE, and on the Arab and global levels.
Dr Shaikh Sultan made these comments during a meeting on Sunday with Abdullah Mohammad Al Owais, Chairman of Sharjah Department of Culture and Information, and the department’s directors. At the meeting, Dr Shaikh Sultan referred to his early cultural experience, from his childhood when he studied in Egypt to the cultural initiatives and efforts in Sharjah.
He spoke about the cultural dimension of Sharjah, which includes various cultural fields and efforts to support culture. He praised the department’s publications, which includes the Sharjah Cultural Magazine, and Al Rafid magazine, which was launched 25 years ago.
Later, Dr Shaikh Sultan visited the Sharjah Government Media Bureau (SGMB), and inquired about its sections and departments. Dr Shaikh Sultan was briefed by Shaikh Sultan Ahmad Al Qasimi, Chairman of SGMB, about the bureau’s most prominent media initiatives and activities.
Dr Shaikh Sultan inspected the administrative, technical and executive departments and sections of SGMB. He was briefed by Tarek Saeed Allay, Director of SGMB, on the bureau’s operational mechanism and the efforts exerted for developing media work.
