Sharjah: The Sharjah Debt Settlement Committee for Nationals on Sunday approved Dh71.2 million to pay off debts in 95 cases.
The move follows directives by His Highness Dr Shaikh Sultan Bin Mohammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, to ensure a stable and decent standard of living for citizens residing in Sharjah.
Rashid Ahmad Bin Al Shaikh, Chief of the Sharjah Emiri Court and head of the committee, affirmed that the committee approved the amount to settle debts of people who are wanted or convicted in financial cases, or may have defaulted in other ways.
Al Shaikh added that the latest batch of beneficiaries marked the 15th to be assisted by the committee and the total amount dispensed under the programme stood at Dh487.88 million and the total number of beneficiaries had risen to 1,011.
