Abu Dhabi: The Federal National Council (FNC) will discuss three federal bills concerning the organisation and terms of reference of the National Media Council, the judicial charges at the Federal courts, and the amendment of the decree as per Federal Law No 5 of 2012 pertaining to combating information technology crimes.
The discussion will be held during its fifth meeting of the first ordinary session of the 16th legislative chapter on February 16 in Abu Dhabi.
Dr Amal Abdullah Al Qubaisi, FNC Speaker, will open the meeting at the FNC headquarters in Abu Dhabi.
During the meeting, the FNC will review four international conventions and treaties signed by the government for 2016, which are Federal Decree No 9 regarding the ratification of an agreement between the UAE Government and the Government of the United States to improve international tax compliance and the application of the Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act (FATCA); Federal Decree No 10 pertaining to the ratification of an agreement between the UAE Government and the Government of Kuwait regulating air services; Federal Decree No 11 on the ratification of the agreement between the UAE Government and the Government of the Republic of Burkina Faso with regard to air services between the respective territories and beyond; and Federal Decree No 12 regarding the ratification of an air transport agreement between the UAE Government and the Government of Jamaica regarding air services between their respective territories and beyond.
The council will also review Federal Law No 1 of the year 2016 regarding the additional approval of the General Union Budget, and independent party budgets thereto for the fiscal year 2015, which was issued during the council’s report.
Sharjah Ruler issues decree
His Highness Dr Shaikh Sultan Bin Mohammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, has issued an Emiri Decree requesting the Sharjah Consultative Council (SCC) to convene the first ordinary session of the 9th Legislative Chapter.
Emiri Decree No 13 of 2016 calls on the SCC to convene on Thursday. The decree is effective from the date of issue, and shall be published in the Official Gazette.
