Dubai: Five new public bus routes have been launched in Dubai while four others have been revised, transport officials said.

The first of the new routes is Route 84, which starts at Al Khail Gate in Al Quoz and ends at Mina Siyahi via Mall of the Emirates.

Route 366 moves off Rashidiya Metro station and heads to Silicon Oasis.

Route F12 is a Metro station feeder service starting from Jafiliya Metro station and running through Al Wasl park via Satwa.

Route 21 is another Metro station feeder service starting from Zulekha Hospital heading towards Al Ahli Club.

Route E307A starts at Abu Hail Metro station and ends in Sharjah.

Meanwhile, the four revised routes are Route 22, which has been rerouted to pass by Al Nahda Park, Route 13A to pass by Doha Road, Route 365 from Rashidiya Metro station, and the Metro station feeder service (F3) passing near Al Ittihad Mall via Al Khawaneej Road.

The Public Transport Agency of the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) carried out the changes in view of “consolidating the public bus network in the emirate in keeping with the rising demand for mass transit services in general and public buses in particular”.

Eisa Al Hashemi, Acting Director of Planning and Business Development, RTA Public Transport Agency, said that the nine internal routes started off stations spreading in various parts across the emirate.

“The Public Transport Agency is always keen on broadening the reach of bus network within the emirate of Dubai as well as the inter-city bus network, and frequently conducts studies and field surveys to identify the mobility needs of mass transit users in Dubai in order to meet them at the earliest time possible,” he said.

The RTA has distributed leaflets and flyers at bus stops, bus and Metro stations as well as other places introducing the new routes and revised services.
