Dubai: The dangerous phase of the cyclone has almost passed, said a senior official.
Major General Saif Al Sha'afar, Undersecretary of the Interior Ministry, said the waves are calmer. “We have evacuated houses that were affected near the eastern coast and residents of those houses have been accommodated in hotels and furnished apartments in Fujairah.
“We are speeding up the process of pumping out water and reconnecting electricity,'' he said.
He said most affected areas were the roads that connect the corniche and Kalba. “We have not encountered any causalities or victims so far.''
Colonel Anas Al Matroushi, Deputy Director of the Operations Room for Rransfer and Rescue Affairs and leader of the field team in Hatta, said the situation in Hatta is "stable and calm".
"It is slightly cloudy in Hatta, but everything is calm and our preparations are in place for any emergency call," he told Gulf News yesterday.
He said they are on standby until they receive orders from the Crisis and Disasters Management Committee. The Crisis and Disasters Management Committee had allocated Hatta Clinic to receive any emergency cases.
