Man arrested after suicide attempt at a building in Sharjah

Sharjah: Police arrested an Arab man on Sunday morning after he tried to jump from the fourth floor balcony of a building located in the Al Nahda area in Sharjah.

The 28-year-old Egyptian man tried to jump from the balcony in a bid to commit suicide.

Police moved to the scene when they learnt about the situation on Sunday morning.

After several hours of negotiations police officers managed to calm the 28-year-old and convince him to abandon the suicide attempt.

Sharjah police official told Gulf News that the man came to UAE in a visit visa and Sunday was the last day in his visa period and he did not get job to stay in the country.

Because he did not get job, he thought to end his life, official said

He was taken to Al Kuwaiti hospital.

The hospital report confirmed that the man was in a stable condition and did not have any psychological problems.

The man was later taken to Al Buhairah police station for interrogation.
