Dubai: Gulf Photo Plus (GPP) on Monday announced its annual photography festival GPP Photo Week will run from February 7 to 12, 2018 at Alserkal Avenue, Dubai,

The 2018 edition will be the 14th year of the festival, this time being held under the theme ‘Shift Your Focus’ encouraging attendees to think about photography and the rapidly changing world in a new light, with a new lens.

Shifting focus is an important technical aspect of photography and also a vital part of the creative process.

Over the course of six days, GPP Photo Week 2018 will bring together some of the world’s leading photographers to teach and discuss the latest innovations and techniques in the field.

Alserkal Avenue will once again play host to the festival. The programme will include workshops, talks, seminars, photography trails, exhibitions and more. As many as 17 exhibitions will be held during the event.

The event will be held at Concrete, Alserkal Avenue’s multidisciplinary space that opened earlier this year. Concrete’s adaptability will be ideal for hosting a title photo exhibition, a talks’ stage, along with registration and partner interaction spaces.

Mohammad Somji, GPP’s co-director, said: “Photo Week continues to evolve and embrace new technologies and shifts within the medium. We want to play our part in facilitating the dialogue around photography, and this year’s theme is designed to reflect that. Alserkal Avenue has proved to be a wonderful venue for Photo Week, allowing us to expand our reach to a wider audience and involve our neighbours, many of whom have embraced photography to great effect, in delivering their products and services to the community.”
