Dubai: Three Asian men were arrested by Ras Al Khaimah Police for allegedly attacking and robbing a man carrying Dh287,400 in cash.

The victim said he had been on his way to deposit the money at a bank branch, which was inside a shopping mall. The money was the sale proceeds from his company’s products.

When he stepped out of the car, an unidentified man suddenly attacked him from behind and snatched the plastic bag containing the money.

At the same time, the victim’s co-worker, who was supposed to be with him while depositing the money, reached the scene. The two tried to catch the robber, who disappeared between the trees in Al Qarm area of Ras Al Khaimah.

The victim called the police. The police’s special forces, air wing and coast guards searched the area, but could not track the thief down.

From the information gathered, the police suspected that two more people were involved in the robbery.

Further investigations revealed that one of the men involved had come to the country on a visit visa and stayed in Dubai.

Ras Al Khaimah Police, in cooperation with their Dubai counterparts, arrested the suspect who confessed that he stole the money on the request of two other men.

The visitor told the police that he was looking for a job and then one of the men promised him a good job if he robbed a certain person.

A police team recovered all of the stolen money from a nearby area.

Police investigation also revealed that the second suspect who was not present during the robbery was the one who promised the visitor a job.

Brigadier Abdullah Al Munkis, director of the Criminal and Investigation Department of Ras Al Khaimah Police, said all three suspects were arrested within 24 hours. Police later found out that the first suspect was involved in plotting the robbery.

The case has been referred to the public prosecution for further action.
