Dubai: Eleven people are suspected to have been involved in the killing of Mahmoud Al Mabhouh, the Hamas commander who was assassinated in a Dubai hotel last month.
The suspects include six British nationals, one French, one German and three Irish nationals, including one woman, Dubai Police Chief Lt General Dahi Khalfan Tamim told the press on Monday evening.
"They came to Dubai from a European country and they left to different European countries" following the crime, he added. The police chief said arrest warrants for the suspects have been sent to the Interpol.
Lt General Dahi showed the press CCTV footage showing the movement of the suspects at the scene of the crime.
Two Palestinians arrested
Lieutenant General Dahi also said two Palestinians were arrested in the UAE in connection to the crime. Both are residents of the UAE and one of the had met Al Mabhouh at the airport.
The Dubai Police Chief said Al Mabhouh was heading to Sudan and then China from Dubai. He also said Al Mabhouh had met with members of his group and bought a pair of shoes.
