Dubai: Dubai Islamic Bank (DIB) announced that it has donated Dh4 million as Zakat to the Dubai Foundation for Women and Children (DFWAC). The donation will be used to support victims of violence and human trafficking as a part of the initiatives of the #Year of Giving, which reflects positively on the stability of the UAE community.
Afra Al Basti, Director-General of DFWAC, received the cheque from Abdul Razzaq Al Abdullah, Head of Social Services Department at DIB.
This sign of support follows an MoU between the two sides recently aimed at supporting Zakat beneficiaries in addition to enhancing cooperation and exchange of experiences between the two sides, as well as cooperation to implement joint initiatives and activities to benefit others.
Commenting on the announcement, Al Basti affirmed that DIB’s support for the victims of violence and human trafficking reflects the awareness of the bank’s administration about the extent of their suffering. She added that this donation would help to change the lives of many victims of violence and human trafficking.
Al Basti thanked DIB and its administration and expressed her hope that the future will see more cooperation and joint initiatives between the two sides to support social efforts and humanitarian work and maintaining the stability of UAE society.
“DIB is committed to fulfilling its social and humanitarian responsibilities in the UAE within the framework of the leadership’s vision of the importance of cooperation among the various bodies to enhance the level of work in various fields, including the support of victims of violence and human trafficking of women and children,” said Al Abdullah.
