Investigators seek Bashar meeting
UN investigators probing the killing of former Lebanese Prime Minister Rafik Hariri have said they want to interview Syrian president Bashar Al Assad
Beruit: UN investigators probing the killing of former Lebanese Prime Minister Rafik Hariri want to interview Syrian president Bashar Al Assad.
A spokeswoman for the investigators also said that the team would like to meet with Syrian Foreign Minister Farouq al-Shara.
"The commission has sent a request to interview Syrian President Assad and Foreign Minister Shara, among others," the
spokeswoman said.
The request comes just days after exiled former Syrian vice-president Abdul Halim Khaddam gave an interview claiming that Bashar had threatened Lebanese ex-premier Rafik Hariri.
The spokeswoman added that the investigators will also seek to meet former Vice President Abdel-Halim Khaddam as soon as possible.
