Exiled opposition leader urges Bashar to quit

Dubai: Ali Sadreddine Bayanouni, who fled Syria 26 years ago when he was wanted by the regime, is calling on President Bashar Al Assad to quit since he is unable to implement the reforms he promised six years ago.
In an exclusive interview with Gulf News from his London-based office, Bayanouni, head of the banned Muslim Brotherhood in Syria, said he is serious and sincere about his call because the Syrian Government has been weakened and the opposition forces will meet shortly to prepare for a transitional authority to hold a free election in the country.
Bayanouni said no member from the current regime, including the president, will be targeted. "But legal action will be taken against government officials who deprived Syrians their basic human rights and courts will have the final say," he added.
