Damascus: Former US president Jimmy Carter said that he regrets not meeting with Hezbollah.
Carter also presented a memo to Lebanese Interior Minister Ziyad Baroud, offering to monitor the elections.
If the memo is approved by the cabinet, a team from the Atlanta-based Carter Centre would head to Lebanon next month, in order to start their mission by learning about the electoral procedures of the country, according to Carter.
Carter said he was confident the elections, scheduled for next spring, would be successful.
The Interior Minister has not yet announced the date of the elections.
