Khartoum: An unarmed Ugandan policeman working for international peacekeeping forces in Sudan's Darfur region has been shot dead, the Unamid force said.
In a statement, the UN/African Union (Unamid) troops said that Inspector John Kennedy Okecha was killed in “cold blooded murder''.
Okecha's body was found in his car on Wednesday near a market in north Darfur. He had been shot several times, spokesman Nouredding Mezni said on Thursday.
Ugandan police said Okecha was ambushed on his way back to his base at the airport in El Fasher in northern Darfur.
None of Okecha's belongings were taken from his car, Mezni said. An investigation is under way.
