Clashes erupted after seven policemen were killed in an ambush at a police station in Mogadishu, officials said on Friday.

Mogadishu: Clashes erupted after seven policemen were killed in an ambush at a police station in Mogadishu, officials said on Friday.

Five other people were also wounded in the ambush in Daynile district. Witnesses said that rebels used machine guns and grenades during the assault.

Shebab fighters, the radical wing of the Alliance for the Re-liberation of Somalia, claimed responsibility for the attack.
