Ramallah: The Jerusalem Municipality ordered on Wednesday the demolition of a five-story residential building in the Arab neighbourhood of Bait Hanina of Occupied East Jerusalem.

Municipality workers escorted by police delivered the orders to seven families in person.

Approximately 45 people live in the building, as well as some shops, in which the Jerusalem Municipality claims were built without an official licence.

Evacuate

According to Fakhri Abu Diab, a member of the Silwan Defense Committee, the Al Ajlouni, Wazouz, Abu Sinainah, Asfour, and Jbouri families have not been given a grace period to evacuate the premises and the building could be destroyed at any time.

Meanwhile, the Israeli government authorised a legislative committee to introduce laws giving colonists legal rights to take over various lands in the Arab neighbourhood of Silwan.

The colonists of El Ad will be legally able to kick out any Palestinians from their homes without refering to the courts.
