Gaza: Eleven people were killed in a clash with Hamas police in the Gaza Strip on Tuesday, a Hamas security source said.
Fighting broke out between Hamas security forces and members of the Doghmosh clan, as Hamas forces responded to the killing of a policeman on Monday.
Officials said the forces raided a clan stronghold in Gaza before dawn in search of a suspect.
The fighting erupted after the clan refused to turn over the suspect, said Interior Ministry spokesman Ihab Ghussain. Eight members of the family and one policeman were killed in the fighting, along with a boy and another bystander, he said.
The age of the boy was not immediately known. Forty people were wounded, he added.
Gunfire and explosions rocked the city as the clashes continued for hours into Tuesday morning.
Several others were placed under arrest, the Hamas source said.
