Rome: Italy's foreign minister has criticised Israel's incursion into Gaza, claiming it is using "disproportionate" force to secure the release of a captured soldier.
Massimo D'Alema, told reporters that the Israeli reaction to the kidnapping of Cpl Gilad Shalit last week was not justified.
He said: "The use of force in this way is disproportionate. One can not think that to rescue one hostage you can embark
on an operation that leads to the killing of dozens of people."
