Gaza: Israeli troops killed a Hamas fighter during clashes in the Gaza Strip on Sunday, the Islamist group and medical workers said.

Six other gunmen and a civilian were wounded as Israeli troops clashed with Palestinian groups in the southern Gaza town of Rafah, Hamas sources said.

An Israeli army spokeswoman said she was looking into the report.

The latest violence comes two days after a blast at the house of a senior Islamic Jihad activist killed him and five other people.

The Islamic Jihad and Hamas claimed Israeli warplanes hit the house in an air strike, but Israeli denied involvement.
