Gaza: The Israeli army pulled out of central Gaza on Friday, following an attempt to rescue an abducted soldier.
"IDF forces (Israeli Defence Forces) have currenly completed their activities in the area," the army said in a statement.
The Israeli forces retreated from central Gaza after holding a band of territory around the town of Khan Younis for two days.
Meanwhile the Israeli military said operations would continue elsewhere in Gaza.
Dozens of Palestinians, including civilians, have died since Israel launched its assault on Gaza.
