Occupied Jerusalem: A rocket fired from the Hamas-ruled Gaza Strip landed in southern Israel on Saturday but caused no casualties, the Israeli military said.
"A rocket fired from the Gaza Strip crashed in the western part of the Negev desert without causing any casualties," an army spokesman said.
Israel launched a devastating assault on the Palestinian coastal territory in December 2008 aimed at halting rocket fire.
Some 1,400 Palestinians and 13 Israelis were killed in the 22-day war.
After a year of quiet following the assault, Gaza fighters have stepped up rocket fire on the Jewish state, with 60 rockets and mortars striking Israeli territory since January, according to the army.
