Occupied Jerusalem: US Vice President Dick Cheney is due to meet Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas on Sunday to discuss the faltering Middle East peace process.
Cheney travelled to West Bank to meet Abbas and Prime Minister Salam Fayyad, after attending Easter mass and holding talks with senior Israeli officials early Sunday morning.
He will continue to Ramallah where he is expected to reiterate Bush's promises of supporting the creation of an independent Palestinian state and will also discuss ways to boost Palestinian institutions, aides said.
Cheney arrived in Palestine after touring Israel where he urged both sides to continue the Middle East peace effort, stressing that they “can be certain of America's goodwill'' in the process.
