Abdullah stressed that ending the cycle of violence and a return to the negotiating table was the only way achieve peace in the region and resolve the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.
Abdullah told Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas in a telephone conversation that he will do his utmost to urge both sides to revive the peace process and spare the region from additional tension and instability.
In France, the Foreing Ministry on Friday called on Palestinian militants to free a captive Israeli soldier without conditions and urged Israel to release dozens of Hamas lawmakers and Cabinet ministers it has detained.
"The spiral of violence must be ended," the Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
"Priority must be given to the political process."
