Rabat: At least 35 members of a gang of suspected Al Qaida recruiters have been arrested in Morroco, the state news agency said on Wednesday.
The gang is suspected of sending volunteers to carry out suicide bombings in Iraq or to join Islamist rebels in Algeria.
Moroccan jails already hold around 1,000 Islamists on terrorism-related charges.
Over 55 terrorist cells have been crashed since 2003, according to the Moroccan government.
"This network recruited and transported around 30 candidates for suicide operations in Iraq, and three volunteers to fight alongside AQIM (Al Qaida in the Islamic Maghreb) in Algeria," MAP cited a police official as saying.
