Washington: Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton is on her way to see Nato allies in Europe amid a trans-Atlantic rift over the scope of the alliance's military operation in Libya.
Clinton left Washington Wednesday for two days of talks in Berlin. She will be trying to narrow divisions among the allies, some of whom want a more active role in Libya, particularly from the United States.
After leading the mission in its early days last month, the Obama administration is holding to its plan to stay in a supporting role in enforcing the no-fly zone to protect opponents of Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi. Britain and France have urged Nato to step up its actions and lamented the limited US role.
From Germany, Clinton travels to South Korea and Japan.
