Hundreds of saddened citizens marched to Beirut's Martyrs Square to express their anger and condemnation to Jibran Tueni's killing yesterday.
More than 600 persons gathered in front of the An Nahar's headquarters in downtown Beirut to show solidarity and unity and express their denunciation against the gruesome car bomb that killed Tueni.
Marwan, a Lebanese journalist at the scene, told Gulf News the assassination of Tueni triggered young men and women, mostly students, from different political parties to hold "an unplanned and a spontaneous demonstration in front of the newspaper."
They belong to different Muslim and Christian political parties and groupings.
They called for an international tribunal to look into all assassinations and murder attempts in the country since the extension of the President Emile Lahoud's mandate in 2004.
Sources said many hotel reservations were cancelled ahead of X-mas and New Year's celebrations
