Sa'ad Hariri refuses to forgive father's killers and vows to get justice
Dubai: Lebanese leader Sa'ad Hariri, head of the Future parliamentary bloc, said he "will not forgive" the killers of his father and called on all Lebanese to unite and asked the president to step down.
Sa'ad's comments came in an interview to Gulf News on the eve of the first death anniversary of his father, Rafik Hariri. The five-time prime minister was assassinated on February 14 last year in Beirut. A UN inquiry implicated several Syrian officials.
Sa'ad, who led his father's Future bloc to victory in the parliamentary election, told Gulf News that he will not rest until the assassins of his father are brought to justice.
Sa'ad also launched a fierce assault against the President, Emile Lahoud, and called on him to resign.
"The enemy of freedom will never halt their sabotage plans against the unity of Lebanese. They will work to undermine the achievement of Lebanese in the past year. They are trying to prove that Lebanon cannot be a democracy and has to be governed by security forces," he said.
