Manama: Jordan's King Abdullah will start a visit to Bahrain on Tuesday where he is due to hold talks with King Hamad Bin Eisa Al Khalifa about co-operation between the two countries.

The pair was also to discuss the latest developments in the Middle East, the Petra News Agency reported.

King Abdullah was also due to visit Kuwait on Wednesday for talks with the Emir Shaikh Sabah Al Ahmad Al Jaber on bilateral relations and co-operation, and on Arab and regional issues.

The Jordanian king has also been scheduled to visit Saudi Arabia on Sunday to consult the Saudi leadership.

The three meetings in Bahrain, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia are being held ahead of King Abdullah's trip to Washington where he is scheduled to attend a meeting on September 1.

Jordan's royal court has said King Abdullah has accepted US President Barack Obama's invitation to attend a meeting in Washington on the eve of the planned September 2 re-launch of direct talks between Palestine and Israel.

The meeting is expected to bring together King Abdullah, Obama, Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Middle East Quartet representative Tony Blair.
