Sadr MP killed in roadside bomb attack
A roadside bomb seriously wounded a member of parliament from anti-American cleric Moqtada Al Sadr's bloc in Baghdad on Thursday, one of his bodyguards said.
Baghdad: A member of parliament from anti-American cleric Moqtada Al Sadr's bloc died after a bomb struck his car in Baghdad on Thursday, fellow politicians said.
At least two members of Iraq's parliament told reporters that Saleh Al Ugaili was pronounced dead in a Baghdad hospital following the roadside bomb that exploded near his convoy earlier in the day.
"A bomb hit his vehicle as he was driving through Habibiya. He was hit in the head, and is unconscious and in intensive care," Ali Abbas Rhaima told reporters.
A police source confirmed the attack and said a bomb was planted on a motorbike and exploded as Ugaili's convoy was driving by in Habibiya.
