Iraq police order removal of shoe sculpture
A shoe sculpture set up to honour the Iraqi journalist who threw his shoes at former US president George W. Bush was taken down on Saturday.

Baghdad: A shoe sculpture set up to honour the Iraqi journalist who threw his shoes at former US president George W. Bush was taken down on Saturday.
The director of the orphanage where the sculpture was set up said that police ordered the statue removed because government property should not be used to advance political bias.
A sofa-sized shoe statue was unveiled to the public on Thursday in the hometown of the former Iraqi leader Saddam Hussain.
Baghdad-based artist Laith Al Amari described his fiberglass-and-copper work in Tikrit as homage to the pride of the Iraqi people.

I do not think Iraqis were in need for such bloody freedom. I do not even think their journey towards freedom through Abu Gharib prison, where they were tortured, photographed, and humiliated like animals, is a good reason for thanking the aggressive former US President Bush. On the contrary, I think it is enough reason to commemorate Saddam as a hero.
