Baghdad: Gunmen ambushed a minibus carrying five female university employees to work on Sunday, the attackers seized the driver but released the women unharmed after several minutes, reported Iraqi police.
Two police officials reported that two cars with around eight attackers stopped the minibus at around 7:30 a.m. local time as it was collecting passengers in a predominantly Shiite area in southeastern Baghdad.
The five women, who were on their way to work at Baghdad University's College of Arts, were released unharmed after several minutes, but the gunmen kept the driver and his vehicle, the official said.
The motive for the attack is unknown but one of the women told police that the driver had apparently argued with the gunmen.
