Baghdad: Baghdad's Green Zone came under rocket fire by militants on Sunday as they took advantage of the cover of a dust storm to launch one of the heaviest strikes in weeks.
Iraqi police said eight missiles or mortars had hit the Green Zone while another 14 fell in other parts of the Iraqi capital before nightfall. Two people died and 20 were wounded.
The attack appears to defy a call for a ceasefire by Shiite cleric Moqtada Al Sadr that has seen many of his masked gunmen leave the streets of the Sadr City slum where they hold sway.
