Five US soldiers were killed when their patrol was hit by a roadside bomb and then came under small arms fire in the northern Iraqi city of Mosul on Monday.
Baghdad: Five US soldiers were killed when their patrol was hit by a roadside bomb and then came under small arms fire in the northern Iraqi city of Mosul on Monday, the US military said.
Iraqi army and police also reported fighting had broken out
in the Haysuma neighbourhood, a known Al Qaida stronghold in eastern Mosul, Iraq's third-largest city 390 km north of Baghdad.
Iraqi and US troops are engaged in an all-out campaign against Al Qaida militants in Mosul.
